About Me

The older I get, the more I think about stuff.

Stuff that happened in the past. Stuff that could happen in the future. And stuff that’s happening right now.

The old noggin’ is always on, and sometimes, I like to get those thoughts out of the spin cycle in my head and put them on paper. Or the computer screen. And when I do that, sometimes it can make for a very interesting result.

When I thought about what I wanted to call this blog, I remembered talking to one of my best friends about what was going on in my life at the moment. Fifteen minutes later, I stopped, chuckled, and said, “Man! That was one full-tilt ramble!”

And, so, it came to be.

Merriam-Webster says the definition of full-tilt is “at high speed”. A site from the United Kingdom says the phrase derives from the word “tylte”, which means “to totter unsteadily”. I can certainly relate to that at times.

It was also used in reference to jousting, as knights tilted their lances and charged at their opponents. And Don Quixote did some mighty fine tilting at those windmills.

Looks like there are lots of us who’ve been going full-tilt since the middle ages. I’m in good company, then.

Take what you will from this – but first and foremost, I’m doing this for myself. Some days, I might totter unsteadily, while others might be pointed right on target.

Regardless… it’s a proverbial “jousting match” with myself. So, feel free to take a seat in the arena and enjoy. Thanks for visiting.
